VeryVancouverChristmas.com Television and film actor Benjamin Arcé has had a notable year! During this holiday season, he can be seen as Carlos Montoya in the television film Christmas at Holly Lodge. The film premieres this Sunday, December 3rd on the Hallmark Channel, as part of the network's annual "Countdown to Christmas" programming, and will air throughout the month. According to Hallmark, Holly Lodge is "a special place where Christmas miracles are known to happen." In addition, Benjamin will be ringing in the new year with appearances on Ice (season 2, episode 3) on the E-One Audience Network and iZombie (season 4, episode 6) on the CW Network, both airing in early 2018, date TBA. You will also be able to catch Benjamin in a supporting role in the much-anticipated project La Quinceañera by Luchagore Productions, the release is speculated to be in summer 2018. Benjamin is best known for his work in Lifetime's Britney Ever After (2017), hit TV series The Flash (2014) and Lucifer (2015). Born to a Peruvian father and English mother, Benjamin Arcé spent half his life in Peru and the other in Canada, later adding the U.S. to that list. Benjamin’s passion for acting, filmmaking, and music began while living in Peru as a child. It wasn’t till he moved to Canada that he’d be given an opportunity to pursue his creative endeavors. At the age of 11 he landed a lead role on the unaired sitcom pilot 'No Adults Allowed' (1994). After his first taste of acting Benjamin decided to withdraw from the film and T.V. industry and focus on simply being a kid. A few years later he would find himself performing again, this time on stage with a microphone. His love of hip-hop led him to co-found a 5 piece experimental hip-hop soul band (The Front) which he performed and toured with through his early to mid-twenties. A skilled photographer and videographer, Benjamin decided to explore his love of filmmaking after ‘The Front’ disbanded. It was a chance conversation for a short film that he was directing, where his now agent, would convince him to give acting another try. With his experience behind the camera, Benjamin has a unique understanding of both sides of the lens which is evident in his rich and layered characters showing a subtle yet magnetic connection with the camera. Benjamin says music played an instrumental part in his upbringing, so it comes as no surprise that he has found his way back to it, this time as a solo artist. He attributes his musical diversity to his upbringing and his travels, admitting his family is the biggest reason why he grew up appreciating the likes of Herbie, Hector Lavoe, Stevie, Donnie, Michael, E.W.F., Ruben Blades, Marvin Gaye and many other musicians, artists and songwriters that would echo religiously off his walls. So it was only natural that his ear would later gravitate to the urban music movement that culminated through Hip Hop culture in the 80's and 90's.where he would discover as he calls it "life changing" producers and artists such as J DILLA, Pete Rock, D'Angelo, TCQ, Erykah Badu, Freestyle Fellowship, Maxwell Tupac, Biggie, D.I.T.C., Big Pun, Common and various others. Unique, smooth and captivating are just a few words that roll off the tongue when describing Benjamin’s brand of soul. A self-proclaimed fusionist this singer/songwriter, Composer/producer and rapper blends Salsa, Soul, Hip-hop, Funk, Jazz, Electronic elements and a folk-like simplicity to orchestrate a world of warm, colorful chord movements, hypnotic melodies, and soul-stirring rhythms. But don’t try and put him in a box “..Leave that for the people to decide..” he comments when asked where he fits in “..I'm not one to care for classifications, I’m human and constantly evolving, the only thing that matters is making beautiful music, sharing it with people and enjoying the journey.” “My music bleeds me and the influences that created me..” Benjamin says when asked about his sound that flow’s from Salsa influenced horns to smooth Keys, contrasting Dilla influenced drums and Synthed out acid trips seamlessly. “I wanna take you on a journey, stimulate your sense’s and connect through sound..” he adds speaking of his soon to be released Debut Album: REDEFINED. “I’m not satisfied with dumbing down for the masses, I give people more credit than that, Quality is quality no matter where it comes from or how it was made and this album is a testament to that, no one knows who I am...yet ” He implies with a smile “but they will soon.” More About Benjamin:
